Also around Frankfurt there are venues where a Mediterranean wedding concept can be implemented very well. The Morrhof and this Mussler Winery Those are just two examples. There are other special places that at first glance might not even seem like traditional wedding venues.
This isn't about meticulously recreating a wedding in Tuscany. Rather, it's about picking up on the elements of it that you love: a beautiful setting, good food, long evenings outdoors and a high-quality, natural design.
A wedding with a genuine Tuscan flair
Olive branches, warm terracotta tones, natural stone, linen, candles and a long banquet table outdoors can create the desired look. Crucial to this is less the number of individual decorative elements than the interplay of colours, materials, floristry and location.
The culinary concept is also part of it: an extended aperitif, good food, selected wines, and plenty of time for your guests.
The goal is not a themed wedding, but a overall concept with Italian inspiration and yet remains high quality and individual.
Morrhof wedding venue on the German Wine Route
The Morrhof is a venue in the region that is very well suited for a wedding with a Mediterranean character.
The architecture and outdoor areas already provide a fitting setting. As a result, there is no need to try to create a completely different atmosphere with elaborate decoration.
An outdoor wedding ceremony, followed by drinks and later dinner at a long table, can be easily combined here. For the styling, I would focus on a few high-quality details: floral arrangements, candles, table linen and a clear colour palette.
Food and service should be taken into account just as much as the look when choosing a venue.
Weingut Mussler as a wedding venue on the German Wine Route
The Mussler Winery is another example of how Tuscan vibes can also be brought to life in Germany.
The location along the German Wine Route, the vineyards and the atmosphere of a winery already offer many fitting elements. Instead of creating a completely new world, the existing environment can be integrated into the concept.
An outdoor wedding ceremony with a view of the greenery, an aperitif, a long banquet table, candlelight and natural floral arrangements can create a clear, cohesive concept.
The topic of wine can also be incorporated – from the aperitif to the pairing with dinner, right through to a personal wine selection for your guests.
At the same time, it should be examined how the wedding can be organised logistically: Which areas are available for the ceremony, reception and dinner? What is already available and what needs to be organised additionally?
Because especially with unique locations, not only is the potential of the place crucial, but also what is actually possible there for your specific wedding.
The most beautiful wedding venue is not automatically the right one
If you see a venue that you instantly like, the temptation is high to book immediately. During a viewing, however, appearance shouldn't be the only thing that counts.
How good is the food really? How flexible is the kitchen team? How many waiting staff are scheduled? And who coordinates the schedule on the wedding day?
Organisational questions are also important: Where will the wedding ceremony take place? Where can the drinks reception be held? When can dinner start? How flexible is the venue regarding your desired schedule?
Another point is the equipment. Is the existing sound and lighting equipment sufficient for your wedding? Do you need additional equipment for speeches, the DJ, band or lighting? And what costs will that incur?
The same applies to furniture, crockery, glassware, table linen and outdoor equipment. The decisive factor is what is actually included in the price.
It is also worth taking a close look at the service providers
Many venues work with preferred or fixed partners. That can be handy, but it doesn't automatically mean that these suppliers are the best fit for you.
With some locations or venue networks, suppliers can also pay to be featured on a recommended partner list. That is why it is worth taking a closer look: does the supplier match your needs in terms of expertise, quality and budget? Are there alternatives outside the network?
Therefore, it is important for me not to choose service providers based on, who works with the venue, but rather on who is right for you and your wedding.
A wedding venue can be gorgeous and still not the right choice for your wedding.
Perhaps the food doesn't match your expectations, the service is too inflexible or additional technology and equipment will significantly increase the budget. Perhaps your desired schedule can only be implemented with compromises.
These points are often not recognisable during an initial viewing.
A location manager knows their venue inside out and will show you what is possible there. My task is additionally to take on the perspective of your wedding: What do you need for your schedule, your standards and your guests – and can the venue actually deliver that?
What defines a wedding with Tuscan vibes
With such a concept, I would deliberately not plan the schedule too full.
A relaxed outdoor reception, good food, a long banquet table, wine, candles and plenty of time for your guests are often more important than a tightly scheduled programme.
Especially at a wedding with a Mediterranean concept, the evening should be given room: for conversation, eating together and time with your guests.
The food can take centre stage
If you want Tuscan vibes for your wedding, I would pay special attention to the catering.
Not every dish has to be Italian. What matters are high-quality produce, a good menu and a catering team that suits you and the venue.
An extended aperitif, various small dishes, a sit-down dinner or a sharing concept can be combined depending on the location and personal style.
This concept can also be applied to the drinks – with a good selection of wines, a suitable aperitif and perhaps a signature drink. Did you know that you often have to book a venue, before you can even try the food?If the venue has its own kitchen, you are largely bound to them for quality. A tasting before booking is often not possible – except, for example, at venues with a public restaurant. If you can choose your own caterer, you have more options. However, good caterers are scarce, whereas the choice is enormous. Therefore, the choice is not as simple as it appears at first glance. A good caterer cannot be recognised by beautiful pictures alone. Crucial factors include service, staff, process, presentation, buffet or dinner setup, after-service and logistics, among others. A wedding planner can judge from experience, which caterer suits you, your venue, your guest count, and your standards – and what actually awaits you during implementation. A tasting is also not always a given. Some caterers offer it before booking, others only afterwards or very late on. With some, you only experience the actual service on your wedding day.At a high-end wedding, I wouldn't rely on that risk.
Why planning is especially important for unusual venues
An unusual venue often entails more organisational tasks than a traditional wedding hotel.
Catering, furniture, equipment, lighting, floristry, decoration, service, setup and logistics must be coordinated with one another.
Added to this are questions such as:
- Where do the guests arrive? Who is receiving them?
- Where is the wedding ceremony taking place?
- How does the transition to the aperitif work?
- Where is the dinner being set up?
- What happens during the assembly?
- What is the plan if it rains?
- How does the dinner turn into a party later?
Precisely these points must be taken into account during the planning phase.
How much does a Tuscan-vibe wedding around Frankfurt cost?
For a high-end wedding with about 70 guests, I would budget with a Total budget from around €60,000 calculate.
This is not just about the location, food and drinks. Added to this are floristry and decoration, photography and videography, music and entertainment, equipment, stationery, styling, the cake, transport and other individual services, among other things.
Depending on the venue and scope, the budget can, of course, be significantly higher.
There are virtually no limits to how high it can go.
For me, though, it is not about spending as much money as possible. Even with a generous budget, every decision should have a purpose.
If, for example, good food is particularly important to you, I would invest accordingly there. If elaborate floral arrangements are not important to you, you don't need to allocate an unnecessarily large budget for them.
It is about using your budget in a way that suits you.
Wedding in Frankfurt instead of a destination wedding?
Perhaps you thought until now that a wedding with Tuscany vibes only works as a destination wedding.
That's not necessary.
Especially for couples from Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region, a wedding in the area can be an interesting alternative. Your guests won't have a long journey, overnight accommodation is easier to organise, and yet you can choose a venue that differs significantly from a traditional wedding venue.
And here too, you can turn the wedding into a whole weekend.
Friday dinner together.
Saturday, wedding and party.
Sunday breakfast with your guests.
That way you have more time together without having to travel far.
Not every wedding needs a traditional wedding venue
That is perhaps one of the reasons why I find unusual venues so exciting. You don't automatically have to get married in a traditional wedding venue just because you're planning a wedding.
Sometimes it is precisely the venue that was not originally intended as a typical wedding venue that is interesting.
However, this must be examined in detail beforehand, what is actually possible there and what needs to be organised in addition.
And that is precisely where I see my role as a wedding planner. I don't just know lovely venues. I also look at, whether they work for your specific wedding.
